  • Boat Fire on New Year's Eve
    Updated On: Jan 02, 2015

Platoon 2 spent the final hours of 2014 fighting a boat fire at the Marina. NFD recieved a call around 7 PM reporting a boat on fire at one of the docks at the Marina. Battalion 1 arrived to find a large vessel heavily involved. Engine 3 was first due and stretched their 400' Alley Line with the assistance of Truck 1 members and had to add additional hose. Squad A secured a water supply and Engine 2 stretched a back-up line. Personnel also had to use foam to extinguish the fire. The Norwich Fire Department has an extensive pre-plan for fighting fires at the Marina. Pre-incident planning and quick efforts by the members on scene prevented this fire from extending to multiple exposures that were docked nearby. Here is a link to a video recorded by a passerby. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbrCwzK71Rw

Also on scene was the FMO, and DEEP.
